The Battle of Prestonpans was the first battle of the last Jacobite Rising. It took place on 20-21 September 1745. and was was fought in East Lothian, Scotland, in the vicinity of Prestonpans, Tranent, and Cockenzie.
The Jacobite army led by Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) achieved a stunning and unexpectedly one-sided victory over the Government forces led by Sir John Cope.
These photographs were taken at a reenactment event staged on the battlefield, during September 2021.  Those taking part take their roles very seriously indeed, and are very knowledgeable about the historical characters they represent.  I have to say I was very impressed by the whole event.
